Galveston Island State Park

Sign ups have ended. Be sure to check out our upcoming events for the next project!

We're excited to invite volunteers to support Galveston Island State Park on Saturday, September 14, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, for a series of important projects aimed at maintaining and improving the park's natural spaces and facilities.

One group will assist park staff as they begin work on a fish cleaning station, part of Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation's Centennial Projects initiative across the state. Another group will lead a beach clean-up after the passage of Tropical Storm Francine, ensuring a clean and enjoyable environment for visitors. If time allows, volunteers may also help with weeding, planting, and other tasks in the park’s nursery.

This event is open to volunteers of all ages, with family-friendly projects available, such as the beach clean-up and nursery work. However, some tasks, such as assisting with the construction of the fish cleaning station, will be reserved for adult volunteers only due to the physical nature of the work.

Please come prepared for potentially hot and humid conditions, and remember to bring sturdy shoes, sun protection, and plenty of water. Your participation will make a direct impact on the park and its visitors!

All safety gear, including gloves, eye protection and safety vests are provided. We’ll have sunscreen and bug spray for all of our volunteers. Lunch is provided!
