From Grocery Bags to Paint Brushes: H-E-B and the Power of Partnership

On November 3rd, 2023, we teamed up with H-E-B for our second major volunteer project together — this time bringing over 130 H-E-B partners to Huntsville State Park to restore a historic lodge built nearly a century ago.

Our relationship with H-E-B started simply: buying groceries to feed volunteers. But it’s grown into something far more powerful. Through shared values and a love for Texas, we’ve now partnered directly with H-E-B locations across the region to organize impactful, hands-on projects. This event at Huntsville saw teams from Spring, Willis, and beyond come together to strip and repaint the iconic lodge originally constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It was a true restoration — not just of a building, but of our connection to the stories and structures that define our parks. The result? Over 900 volunteer hours logged in a single day. Partnerships like this show how community investment and corporate leadership can come together to build something lasting — and we’re just getting started.
